The Search for the Newcomers, Feburary 2013 Edition.

New Arrivals

Who: Open to Everyone, but only Newly Accepted Characters can start threads.
Where: All around the city! They appear where you want them to appear.
Summary: Newcomers arrive and by now the Government is more ready and sends everyone out to go people hunting.
Warnings: ARRIVALS. Also assume the first thread is the ones who tell you about the city, and the other tags for the character can be talking with others in the city and learning more about it.

[FOR THOSE IN THE CITY:]
There was still so much cleanup to do. What a perfect time for your HORUS detection systems to start warning you that another group of people were forthcoming.

The device allowed everyone to spot abnormalities; and while it was being re-tuned to work with the appearing buildings, they could hone in on newcomers at a much faster pace. The leftover energy from the travel (commonly called Magatama Residue) gave them a few minutes to find them before it would flicker out.

Combined with the fact they could appear in most parts of the city, it made finding the newcomers was both easy yet frustratingly difficult.

As the blips appear on your own radar function, it was also nice enough to calculate for you the best transport and destination routes to take to get there. Speed was of the essence, after all.

[FOR THOSE WHO JUST ARRIVED:]
You're not in your homeworld anymore. That much is evident. So how do you feel? Happy? Sad? Troubled? A little of all three? No matter what, the memories of a butterfly man named Philemon are fading like a dream; you'll remember the details, but perhaps not everything he has said.

There is one word that stays with you, however.

Persona.

So...here to save the city, huh? First you'll need to find out more information. And who knows, maybe a familiar face or two...

[OOC: As stated above, only new characters can start a thread, but feel free to jump in any of them. characters arrive with their clothing and whatever items they had on them the moment they were taken; the remaining items will be later found in their apartments.]

[Dr. Brown, there is a small teenage girl of indeterminate ethnicity and lavender hair staring at you. And attempting to follow your logic.]

[ Admittedly catching sight of this young lady makes him realize that he may have been a bit noisy and overly too panicked. But totally justified. ]

Is there something wrong young lady?

[She's silent for a moment, still considering, then speaks.]

If you and the other person have been removed from your original time stream, are you certain you can still affect it without returning, or is time subjective to each observer without respect to or affect on their original universe?

We are an integral part of our timeline!

[ This is the moment Doc wishes he had a board to draw his things on. ]

The matter that composes use existed before our birth and will exist after our death. By removing us, this means a disappearance of matter from our very universe, but this is not the worse.

I suppose worlds like this have systems to compensate our disappearance from the time stream, but by dividing us between two worlds the inability can only be growing. Think to historical events, what would happen if one of the main characters were to suddenly disappear out of existence? The timeline would lose its consistence and the ensuing time paradox could very well signify the end of the very world!

[She stops to consider this carefully again, running the possibilities over in her brain.]

I see. You're speaking of two things. Conservation of mass and energy, and the integrity of history.

[Let's pretend either of those apply Super Robot Wars in the first place.]

The fact that time- and dimensional-travel exist at all disproves the idea that mass and energy are conserved within a single timeline. Any time an object moves "between" times or dimensions, it subtracts mass from and adds entropy to one point while doing the opposite somewhen else. This indicates that if conservation does exist, it does so across all or multiple possible universes.

On the second point...

[She thinks back to Gilliam and Lamia's descriptions of the Shadow-Mirrors' universe. Excellen and Lemon, Kyosuke and Beowulf...]

...wouldn't someone's removal from an 'event' simply cause an alternate timeline where that event happened differently?

In theory yes, but you are not-- No... No, in fact you are thinking quite four dimensionally!

[ Which is really nice, because that's the second time in the day that he meets someone who actually manages to follow his babble. Surprising even. ]

Great Scott, would it be possible that...?

[ He shakes his head. ]

Let's continue! If the person is removed from the event by an internal agent, this means the one who removed them in either the past or future won't have to do it, and if they don't do it the person won't be removed from the timeline, that's the grandfather paradox! It could lead to a time paradox that would unravel the very fabric of the space-time continuum and cause the destruction of the universe!

Now in the case of an outside agent, I admit it is more complicated, and it links back to your first point about conservation of mass and energy.

But the very problems lies in the fact that our universes should not be connected- We are not part of the same multiverse! My multiverse contains all quantum realities and possibilities of my world, and yours does the same for yours! However, mass and energy cannot normally be exchanged between them. When it did in the tower, it destroyed my entire world, or so they said!

The only reason it could work if it was temporary with instant restitution to the homeworld- Which we have no certainty can happen!

In other words, to avoid a paradox, someone removed from a timeline would ideally be replaced at that exact instant after having done whatever it is they were going to do in another timeline.

[She nods.]

Hence your worry about being separated from someone else from said timeline.

Exactly!

[ He nods as well. ]

That is indeed party of the problem, yes! Especially when we consider the instability of the world we were from!
