Like Bulls in a China Shop: Taurus Log

▼ The Darkening Days

Who: Everyone. This is a general catch-all Taurus Event log. If you would like to do your own separate logs either due to pacing or easier loading, by all means, please do so!
Where: The Entire City
Summary: The last days of the Taurus event as things start to sour dramatically. During the 13th hour, Mutation Skills are unlocked for certain people (see the info post here) and now people have a chance against the swarming mechanized bulls. Unfortunately, for some, this means the paranoia hit a new low....if you want, you can get together and join each other's posts to try to hold the city down and protect everyone!
Warnings: Strange Attitudes, NPCs, Attacking, Battles.
Note: Please mark your post with what date they are happening. We are allowing anywhere from the 23th to future-dating to the 26th itself. Go on and have fun!

▼ The nights grow weary and a pattern seems to be forming...(days until the 26th)

Most of the Taurus civilians had willingly put themselves in confinement. As their symptoms began to rise, at the very least, there was little chance for them to cause problems. It looked like, hopefully, that they could hold back a lot of the damage and deaths to the city.

How completely wrong they would end up being...

▼ The day of reckoning...(April 26th, before the 13th Hour)

In retrospect, they should have realized something was wrong. While the Scorpio civilians were screaming about doom much like it had been predicted, Aquarius and Leo were not.

More research was needed...but there was no time now.

Somehow, everyone that had gone to the holding facilities were being freed from their confinement areas. No one knew who or got in, or how they got out, but many guards were injured in the process-- or worse.

The city turned into an all too (unfortunately) familiar sight. The Taurus civilians were causing havoc in the city, joined by others that the city had not predicted. Observers and Researchers quickly realized that these were all the earth signs, and a signal was given out; but too little, too late.

The city needed to fight back, lest it lose even more of its members. The situation was dire, but they had the Visitors on their side.

...For better or for worse.

▼ The Hour at Hand...(April 26th, 13th Hour)

13th Hour.

By now, the city was in chaos. For those who had witnessed the Scorpio outbreak it was an unfortunate similarity they might want to forget, but for others, this horror was brand new.

Giant mechanical bulls patrolled the city and continued to swarm, the police force trying to contain them and help as many as they could.

As time went on, mechanical parts and rocks fell to the floor from the bulls. Once the 13th hour hit...the remaining ones mutated, standing on two legs. And that wouldn't even be the worst of it...

And yet even in this Hour, there is hope. Power surges in a select few, and with a new skill at their tips, the battle may be won yet. But remember your mission: you came to protect this city. That includes the people living here. With so much chaos, you'll also need to help them and reduce the number of deaths as much as possible...and try not too look too closely at a looming figure in the Taurus Ward...

If Samus were in a better state of mind right about now, she probably would have picked up on joke a bit better, maybe even picked up the flirtatious tone. Unfortunately, she's got her mind set to angry warpath mode, so her response is serious and deadpan.

"I've never had passengers aboard my personal ship. The only comrade who ever decided to mess with my ship nearly tore it to pieces."

At least she had enough tact left to refrain from mentioning that she returned the favor to him shortly thereafter. Only a moment after the passing comment, Samus activates the thrusters, sending the ship lurching forward up into the air and over the city. She had to be rather careful, though. While the top of the dome may seem high above the buildings below from the ground, it gave her very little space to maneuver. This ship was built to fly in deep space, after all.

Hope you're really holding tight there, Loken.

He spends the majority of his battles getting dropped from orbit in a one-way rocket pod, compared to that this isn't that bad a ride, but he seems to be clinging tightly, his huge form shifting slightly even with magnetic clamps of his boots activated.

"Moves like a Stormbird. Impressive." He manages, rumbling through his augmitters.

As for what a Stormbird is, she'll have to guess, he doesn't appear to be ready to elaborate quite yet.

"I wouldn't know... You'll have to describe to me what a Stormbird moves like. This ship is a mixture of Federation and Chozo technology, though... It's built to move smoothly and with stealth." She actually sounds a bit proud about it, somewhat breaking out of her serious-mode trance. She really loves her ship.

"We're almost there." Pressing a few buttons on the control panel, Samus maneuvers the ship to descend to the neighborhood in trouble, as a computerized voice speaks 'Preparing for landing' over an intercom. It only takes a moment before the ship hovers down and lands on the street with a thud, the hatch at the bottom opening up. Screams and roars of monsters can already be heard outside of the ship.

"They are like raptors, stooping on the prey below. They carry 50 of my brothers, and one of them is enough to turn the tide of a battle, if deployed with a full complement of Astartes."

After it lands, Garviel immediately begins rushing out of the hatch, barely waiting for it to open, his bolter coughing out murderous bolts as he raises his chainsword high, a challenge to the Taurus monster as his howling voice blares out from the voxcaster in his helmet.

"Kill for the living, kill for the dead." He rumbles, in between sweeps of his blade.

Samus is up and out of her chair, following after him in a hurry, dropping down through the hatch to the street below. The instant her feet touches the pavement, her ship is flying back up into the air to keep an eye on the streets from above.

"An honorable code!" she shouts back to her fellow hunter as she leaps into battle with her Persona at the ready, Old Bird casting Tarukaja on Garviel, temporarily boosting his attack power. Samus herself is grappling one of the Taurus around the neck, as though to lasso it, fighting with sheer strength to stagger it and bring it to its knees. Her physical strength is massive, as she is able to drag the two ton beast several feet across the street with only partial effort.

As the beast continues to resist, Samus lets go of it, causing it to lose its balance, before she brutally assaults it with her plasma beam.

For his part, Cerberus tears into the Taurus beasts with chainsword, firing the bolter occasionally as a kill shot after crippling them with the screaming edge of his sword. He nods approvingly at her physical prowess, capable of wrestling the beasts himself but unwilling to do so while he's still got his blades on him.

For a moment, he considers offering her his combat knife, then shakes his head. She has it well in hand, and her apocalyptically destructive ranged weapons make the point moot anyway. What he wouldn't give to have the analysis of a Mechanicum adept to see just how her weapons functioned so well, they outstrip even the mighty weapons of the Legions.

"I think this battle will end soon." He ventures, seeing the Taurus monsters begin to thin in numbers after their ferociously aggressive assault.

With their efforts combined, Samus wasn't surprised by the thinning ranks of monsters. The strength of her plasma beam was somehow overwhelmingly powerful, as though the fire she felt in her heart was being reproduced tenfold in her fiery onslaught. While as cold and calculating as ever in her attacks, precision and grace never leaving her style, there was a burning rampage that still controlled her actions, driving her to fight.

With Garviel's words, Samus nods in return, breathing heavily as she steadies herself from her attack and locks on to her next advancing target. "We only need to hold them back... If my guess is correct, they won't survive past the Thirteenth Hour regardless, though it would be satisfying if we could destroy their ranks before the clock tolls."

"Agreed!" He assents, even as the goring attack of a Taurus demon knocks his helmet free, and gouges his forehead, leaving his face a mask of blood. He counters with a point blank bolter round that blows its back out.

He briefly pauses to retrieve his helmet and says, "What basis do you have for this guess?"
