Paradisus Perditaque

What: Closing Arena Ceremonies
Where: Aries Arena & Televised
Summary: 1/24/10AC
Warnings: This could get serious...but who knows.

The last week and a half had been, at best, an insane blur of lights, colors, Persona and celebrations.

And while your own victories have been appreciated by the population, you are, after all, Visitors. No playing in the main competition. Not even proper brackets, you were just lucky to be allowed to be IN the tournament as a main show at all! It was a great honor, and you should accept it as such.

That's show business for you.

The main news that had been on everyone's lips was that the longtime champion, Blue Sky Dragoon, had been beaten by his long-time rival, Royal Red Lion for top honors this year. Red Lion (real name Bunrakuken Karube, although they couldn't say that in public due to the new rule this year) had created the biggest upset since the event's creation ten years ago. For him, it was a monumental victory, as it meant he would be, more or less, the hero for the city for the next year. For Blue Sky Dragoon, it meant his reign of five years had finally come to an end.

Needless to say, the second place contestant looked rather bitter as he was ushered into the podium for the main division.

In the end, there had been no interruptions. The entire Games had gone off without a hitch. Your efforts had been appreciated during the course, however, and you were all invited for the final closing ceremonies. Kiyoshi Suou was still on alert, unwilling to relax even a little.

For the most part, closing ceremonies were trivial, and, dare we say, boring. The energy from the tournament had been slowly declining, and by the third national song and a kabuki reenactment of the final battle between Dragoon and Lion, most were trying not to doze off.

And yet...you...as Visitors. There's a strange feeling around you. It's not the lack of energy from the civilians, no.

Something isn't right.

Unfortunately you can't prove that and you can't stop what's going on but...you can try looking around. But you should probably be as discreet as possible, all things considered. While you can't just search the arena during the ceremony, there is still the underbelly of the stadium, athletes you could talk to, policemen on the job...

...it's like trying to finding a needle in a haystack.

[OOC - Alright timeline of events: Tonight is going to be just mingling, assessing the crowd and seeing what you can find. Create closed or open posts, or just watch the show and comment between yourselves. We have some NPCs that can talk with you (anyone who has an NPC, or was given NPC info for this log are free to have them be around), or you can talk amongst yourselves; this is, after all a celebration, although an apparently boring one.

Once this post is done, there will also be a mod post going up with a few additions about what is going to go down tomorrow, and some announcements! Our tentative hour for the main event will be the 24th at 6-7PM EASTERN tomorrow. Be there!]

"Friends? Like who? I know a couple of people who were fighting in the tournament, but I wasn't rooting for anybody specific!"

He's admittedly a little curious as to who a kid like this would consider friends.

"The first ones I have ever truly had! We've been together awhile now. And there are others in these Games I am interested in." He answered his inquiry with a dip of his head. Was it very descriptive? No, but Pharos didn't feel it particularly needed to be.

The embodiment of Death giggles a little. "Ah, I see. Simply attending to watch the proceedings then?"

The looming threat of the Anoli striking and all that. Or the kabuki show, either or.

"You're that close, huh? How lucky!"

It's fine if he doesn't go into detail. Hizumi isn't actually all that invested in the topic, but it's at least somewhat interesting to chat about!

And at the second question... "More or less! It's better than sitting around watching it alone at home, right? And I'm too young to get into a bar." Unfortunate fact, that. "Specifically speaking... This place's culture is similar to, but not quite exactly like where I'm from. It's a learning experience."

Because Kabuki shows are totally more important here than the threat of Anoli, yes.

[personal profile] the_usual_stuff 2013-01-25 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
"I suppose so? I do enjoy being close to them."

It was just an accident that had thrown them together after all, so one could attribute the results to the whim of luck. Oh, interesting topics.

A faint look of bemusement graced his face for a second. "Why would you want to get into a bar?" The only bar scene he had ever experienced in any detail here was Nyx's place in the Taurus district, or the club Minato had frequented back home. But hey, Pharos is all for learning experiences. "I see! This city does call to mind cities from my world as well, even if it's quite different in some aspects."

But of course. Absorbing some native culture is important!

"They usually have at least one TV where they show the sports playing at the time!" He holds up a finger, almost like a teacher giving a lesson to a student. "And then everybody can drink and watch the matches together! It's a lot more exciting than being by yourself."

[personal profile] the_usual_stuff 2013-01-26 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ah-huh. Really? That's a reasonable way to enjoy yourself with other people, I guess." He rests his cheek on one hand, listening though he doesn't see the appeal behind watching sports matches on a TV and drinking. "Doing things alone is a little dull sometimes."
bondsofsuffering: ([Question] So let's disprove the)

[personal profile] bondsofsuffering 2013-01-26 11:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's dull and quiet, and it feels like you have no social life. Humans are supposed to be social creatures, aren't they? So it's better to watch this kind of thing in a big group!" You know, for that whole bonding thing that he... doesn't actually do a whole lot of.

[personal profile] the_usual_stuff 2013-01-27 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Without connections to others, humans are quite weak, yes. They are simply not meant to be alone, any of them." He noted in agreement. Not that mankind was alone in that need. Solitude was damaging to anything that lied claim to sentience.

Having no social life sounds like a minor tragedy to Pharos who had developed within the Arisatos' who are Persona protags had a crazy busy social life to fill their time with. "Is that so? Do you like crowds then?"
bondsofsuffering: ([Smile] Miserable - yes - but)

[personal profile] bondsofsuffering 2013-01-27 08:43 am (UTC)(link)
"Of course. It's much more exciting that way, right?" And it is true that he tends to be the more extroverted type. Even if he doesn't necessarily connect with people, he's energetic whenever he's in the midst of others. "What about you, Pharos? Do you talk with a whole lot of other people?"

[personal profile] the_usual_stuff 2013-01-27 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"Exciting? Entertaining, perhaps." It was the way of things, really. And he sounds thoughtful, like he was thinking something over. He idly tapped the bottom of his sandals a few times on the ground. "No, I talk to only a few assorted people at a time."
bondsofsuffering: ([Smile] theory of surrender.)

[personal profile] bondsofsuffering 2013-01-28 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
"You should talk to others more. I bet it'd be interesting." That's probably the most sincere statement he's made in this entire conversation.

[personal profile] the_usual_stuff 2013-01-28 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Pharos laughs that off-kilter chuckle of his. "I am trying to. Thank you for the advice."
bondsofsuffering: ([Soft] a never-ending nightmare.)

[personal profile] bondsofsuffering 2013-01-28 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Have you met anybody intriguing at least? We've got a lot of people from all kinds of backgrounds here. It's a shame not to talk to them all!"

[personal profile] the_usual_stuff 2013-01-29 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh yes." Hadn't he mentioned this before to him? The wild Card Izanami had laid claim to, the kindred spirit of Hades, and... Heh. "This city is full of interesting people to observe."

They give him plenty of opportunity to study the contradictions of humanity for one thing.
bondsofsuffering: ([Smile] theory of surrender.)

[personal profile] bondsofsuffering 2013-01-29 08:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Then we're in agreement!"

Hizumi had met his own share of interesting folks, after all. And that list included one of the Arisatos Pharos was so familiar with.
